Inspired by light, shapes of Nature & Spiritual symbols: Cyanotype Workshop for Children

18 June 2023 @ 2.00pm - 3.30pm

Cyanotype-printing, otherwise known as Sun-printing or blueprinting, is a photographic technique pioneered by the famous botanist and photographer Anna Atkins 1799-1871. In this guided workshop we will explore this technique as we coat paper with Cyanotype and gather our own interesting natural shapes such as feathers, grasses, and flowers which we will gather from the wonderful grounds of St Enda’s Park. We will then lay the shapes over the prepared paper and develop the images using the power of UV light from the sun. The result will be beautiful silhouettes and photographic prints enveloped in a rich blue hue. For ages 12 – 16 years. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Gloves and all materials will be provided. This event is free. Booking essential at 01 493 4208. Come join us on the Saturday 10th of June at 14:00pm in the Nature Study Room at St Enda’s Park.
